Microsoft Natal

Microsoft's E3 press conference provided an amazing insight of the future of video games. It is a motion-capture camera for the XBox360 which is called Microsoft's Project Natal. Natal, which look like a rectangular bar that sits above or below your TV, can track your body's movements in theree dimensions. Thus, there's no need for a game controller, as you (yes, you read it right) will be a controller.

Natal utilizes face recognition and will figure out who you are and sign you in. Natal also features voice recognition, verbal commands can do everything from playing a movie to having a conversation with a virtual character. In this project players can interact with a virtual characters, who respond to your voice, movements, and facial expressions.

With inventions such as Natal, we're quickly approaching a future in which humans can partake in a virtual experience that's nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.

Lets get Digital..

Today is the last day of analog TV broadcast, ending a six-decade era for the technology. From now on the broadcasting will be done through digital signals.

It is a revolution in communication technology as millions of users are switched to it on the same day

Birthday of a legend..

On this very date in 1934 a legendary character was introduced in "The Wise Little Hen", a white anthropomorphic duck with a yellow-orange bill, legs, and feet - Donald Fauntleroy Duck.

He was created by Dick Lundy. It got his voice from Clarence Nash (1934–1985) and Tony Anselmo (1985–present).He began appearing in most Mickey Mouse cartoons as a regular member of the ensemble with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto. He and his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie have entertained us for years.

I loved his "Quack Pack" show. He is one of my favourite cartoon characters.. Long live Donald..

Face the mighty "SELF"

One of the characteristics I believe is at the heart of success, is an ability to keep working in the face of failure and an ability to force ourself to be productive when we don’t feel like it. It’s very hard to be confident of success when we have yet to seriously experience it. In many ways, at this stage of our career, faith and fake-it-till-you-make-it confidence in our idea has to carry us through the self doubt, the set-backs and the slow growth.

Nothing goes right all the time and along with that one of the greatest challenges we face is our battle with self doubt. Others around us will scoff at our attempt, our own results will come slowly and for a long time we will have to work every day for little reward. Patience and willpower are necessary. In hindsight faith in an outcome is easy because the experience is had, before this, we’re playing with chance and believing in the possibility of success without tasting it.

One of the things we should do when we feel less than enthusiastic is to focus on output, rather than the external elements that bring us down. We might feel utterly crushed, but if we create something or take any productive action, we continue towards our goals.

The great thing about output is the power it has over our mood. Negative emotion breeds negative actions or a lack of any action at all. If we focus on creating something and just take one little forward step, the physical effort we exert effects our inner emotional state. Our ability to soldier on in the face of emotional dissonance can carry us through the darkness and return you to a state of congruent activity and thought.

Sometimes we question whether the work we put in will ever bring the desired outcomes. Usually it is simply a case of patience and dedication to the process. It needs time to get to where we want to go and we needed to believe that our actions day-in and day-out would take us there.

Along the journey we should enjoy every small success and focus on the commitment towards a goal, with at times blind faith. That motivation and commitment, even when we felt less than excited about our progress. This is not something every person can replicate. Regardless of life situation, resources or any external variable, simply put the willpower to finish the race.

There is a point where we need to take stock of progress and make changes or even quit altogether. Unfortunately most people take the exit door all too early and this lack of action merely reinforces the already prevalent lack of results. It’s not rocket science, but as moody and imperfect human beings, there is a challenge to overcome oneself. This is, and always will be, our greatest challenge in life.

If we truly want to realize an outcome and taste success, then we must complete the necessary steps to get there. Not some of them and not just during our best days. This needs to be congruent and forceful effort regardless of external circumstances or internal turmoil.

NanoTechnology Wonder - Nokia Morph

The Morph concept device is a bridge between highly advanced technologies and their potential benefits to end-users. This device concept showcases some revolutionary leaps being explored by Nokia Research Center (NRC) in collaboration with the Cambridge Nanoscience Centre (United Kingdom).

Morph concept technologies might create fantastic opportunities for mobile devices:

  • Newly-enabled flexible and transparent materials blend more seamlessly with the way we live
  • Devices become self-cleaning and self-preserving
  • Transparent electronics offering an entirely new aesthetic dimension
  • Built-in solar absorption might charge a device, whilst batteries become smaller, longer lasting and faster to charge
  • Integrated sensors might allow us to learn more about the environment around us, empowering us to make better choices

The integrated electronics shown in the Morph concept could cost less and include more functionality in a much smaller space, even as interfaces are simplified and usability is enhanced.

Flexible & Changing Design

Nanotechnology enables materials and components that are flexible, stretchable, transparent and remarkably strong. Fibril proteins are woven into a three dimensional mesh that reinforces thin elastic structures. Using the same principle behind spider silk, this elasticity enables the device to literally change shapes and configure itself to adapt to the task at hand.

A folded design would fit easily in a pocket and could lend itself ergonomically to being used as a traditional handset. An unfolded larger design could display more detailed information, and incorporate input devices such as keyboards and touch pads.

Even integrated electronics, from interconnects to sensors, could share these flexible properties. Further, utilization of biodegradable materials might make production and recycling of devices easier and ecologically friendly.


Nanotechnology also can be leveraged to create self-cleaning surfaces on mobile devices, ultimately reducing corrosion, wear and improving longevity. Nanostructured surfaces, such as “Nanoflowers” naturally repel water, dirt, and even fingerprints utilizing effects also seen in natural systems.

Advanced Power Sources

Nanotechnology holds out the possibility that the surface of a device will become a natural source of energy via a covering of “Nanograss” structures that harvest solar power. At the same time new high energy density storage materials allow batteries to become smaller and thinner, while also quicker to recharge and able to endure more charging cycles.
